M aryland has pushed forward on several fronts over the past year. It drafted new K-12 content standards, although the American Federation of Teachers found that the English standards, in particular, could still use some work. The state also set a schedule to implement new high school graduation tests, provided more money for poorer school districts, and continued to work with Baltimore to overhaul its schools.
